Welcome to the Carrot and the Stick Project

It is difficult to trust your client's email to that of some unknown third party. Some Blacklist are known for spite listings or for not listing for various reasons the list maintainer decides. At stop-spam.org each list has very specific criteria and no IP will be listed for any other reason than the reason specified on the list page. All IP addresses that meet that criteria will be listed and no exceptions made.

The primary Blacklist available here

The BotNet Blacklist

1. We and/or our client receive one or more spam; the spam is almost always for something that is illegal or just another scam.
2. We retrieved all the received lines.
3. The server IP connecting to our server, or our servers and/or our client's server must not, at the time the spam was sent, have any rDNS.
4. We and/or our clients have to receive spam before any IP address is ever entered into any list.
5. For this list the criteria is specific and is used to isolate machines that are more than likely to be compromised and can be home computers and/or servers with malware on them.

The Non-Mail Server Blacklist

1. We and/or our client receive one or more spam; the spam is almost always for something that is illegal or just another scam.
2. We retrieved all the received lines.
3. The server IP connecting to our server, or our servers and/or our client's server has rDNS but it is not designated as a mail server.
4. We and/or our clients have to receive spam before any IP address is ever entered into any list.
5. For this list the criteria is specific and is used to isolate machines that are more than likely to be compromised and can be home computers and/or servers with malware on them.

The various Snow Shoe Spammer Blacklist levels

  • Level 1 any and all Affiliate IP addresses that are traceable to the affiliate whether or not they have sent us and/or our clients spam.
  • "This means if an affiliate is productive and purchases IP addresses from multiple providers, all of the IP space under that affiliate's control will be listed whether or not the IP addresses were ever used to send spam." There will most like never be any false positives because this list is for spam senders only.

  • Level 2 any Affiliate organization IP addresses of those that hire the affiliates.
  • "This is a list of all third parties that hire the affiliates to send their spam." There might be false positives because the "third party" might be considered to be a "legitimate" company to a customer.

  • Level 3 the Client IP addresses of those advertised in the spam.
  • "This is a list of all parties advertised in the spam." There might be false positives because these are usually well known companies and might be considered to be a "legitimate" company to your customer.

    The Server Intrusion Blacklist

We check through our log file periodically and notice attempts to crack into our servers and so we record the IP. We used to notify the IP owners but received too many responses that were not helpful and/or informed.

We discontinued informing the admin but still maintain a list of what we see as an attempt to root our servers.
