With the Service Provider Industry, we have a taken a novel approach to their business model. The problems and potential problems can be massive and can damage the reputation of the Service Provider as well as our reputation and this is a chance we are unwilling to take.

We see a problem with the following:

Responsibility for customer's behavior
Downstream provider's customers
New and unknown customers

Though this presents a complex set of issues, the solution is still simple. Each owner of each individual mail server, including collocated servers allowed to run email software must apply to get the IP for their server listed.

Any violation of the Best Practices by a Service Provider's customer result in the IP's for that customer's server(s) will immediately be delisted until the issue is resolved. While this will not directly affect, the Service Provider's listing, the Service Provider will be expected to take action.

The Service Provider will be expected to educate or terminate that customer. Failure to do so will result in the immediate addition of those IP's belonging to theService Provider's customer to our Black List.

Additional possible actions towards the Service Provider are removal of their IP's from the list.

We realize this is a hard line on this issue, however, ultimately the Service Provider is directly responsible to police themselves. Any business wishing to be listed will be required to abide by our standards and there can be no loopholes. We feel this strict policy will remove spammers from your inbox and help us to meet our goal of keeping email a viable method of communication.
